Help Boyfriend with Crohn's DiseaseNEW by: Annette Young
Hello there,
Thank you for your post. I think it is great that you want to help your boyfriend with his Crohn's disease and the best thing that you can do is to provide him with support and try to understand that there will be times when he does not feel well, is extremely tired and may be irritable.
It can be very hard for a partner, husband or wife to not feel rejected sometimes and to cope with escalating periods of irritability as well as frustration at not being able to take the pain away.
Just by being there for your boyfriend however, you are sending him the message that you care and that he is not alone and this is really important as many Crohn's sufferers do find themselves feeling isolated and fairy introverted and feel that they have no one to talk to.
Because Crohn's disease has such nasty symptoms, often those who suffer with it do not wish to share the more sensitive information about the condition with others and this is completely understandable. A lack of communication however, also shields others from the reality of the disease and this doesn't help.
It would help to bring Crohn's disease out of the dark and into public awareness, so your boyfriend should explain to friends and colleagues and bosses what he is going through because there is no shame to having Crohn's and he is likely to get greater understanding as a result.
You can help him to have a greater understanding of nutrition and diet if this is an area that he has less knowledge about. Eating sensibly but with Crohn's in mind can make a big difference.
There is a lot of information about Crohn’s disease here and this can be a good starting point for you.

My gf has crohns but hides away from it a bit. Only recently has she opened up a bit more. All we can do is support and assist ATM. And make sure during a flare up to act on it
What you can do by: Vanessa
Hello
I think it is really nice of you to come in here to ask if there is something you can do to help him. Unfortunatly, there is not a lot you can do but if he is the type of guys who likes to be alone when not feeling good, let him be alone, if he needs to talk, listen... Just ask him :) I am sure he will let you know :)
Good luck!
