Life without doctors

have had crohns since i was 11 (now 21). Until i was 15 i spent my life in hospital being given false promises by doctors who in reality do not actually know much about this disease.
i was fortunate enough to have private medical insurance through my dads job and as a result saw the worlds best doctors for crohns disease.
the reality is that all they are doing is looking for the miracle cure which will make them millions. i tried every treatment they had on offer but none worked.
when our doctor suggested we used thalidomide that was the final straw. we left the doctors behind and met a nutritionist who literally saved my life.sadly i have not seen him since i was 19 but have continued to do ok without him
still have many of the symptons but have not missed a day off work for 3 years and have learnt to manage and live with the disease.
I WOULD SUGGEST FOR ANYONE DO NOT BLINDLY TRUST DOCTORS THEY ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT.
SEEK A NUTRITIONIST AND TRY THE NATURAL WAY AS THERE ARE NO NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS.ALOE ELITE HAS HELPED ME. I TAKE MANY VITIMINS EVERYDAY.TAKE CARE OF WHAT YOU EAT.

Life without doctors NEW
by: Annette Young

Hi there,

Thanks for your post. Sorry to read that you have had a pretty tough time of it.

I think in one respect you are right. There are many doctors who do not understand Crohn's and do find it hard to diagnose it. But I can also understand it from a doctors viewpoint. Sometimes the symptoms are very similar to other conditions.

It is frustrating for those who are waiting to be diagnosed though. I know my own mother had a terrible time of it before getting a correct diagnosis and it took some time to get the right medication for her. She absolutely dreaded going to see her specialist and always felt that she was two steps forward and then one back in terms of treatment and results.

I come from a natural health background and I'm with you on the fact that seeking answers outside of the usual medicines that is on offer is a good idea. Sometimes it works out well but I know that for others, a more natural route does not suit them and they are not able to give up their medicines without drastic side-effects and flare-ups.

I think if it works for you and you are managing just fine on a day to day basis, then congratulations. I am really pleased.

Hopefully, the solution you have found will continue to work and you can live as normal a life as possible.

I wish you the best of luck,

Annette
